Late last Friday, the Michigan Supreme Court ruled unconstitutional some aspects of a 1945 law used by the governor to issue executive orders related to the pandemic. The governor and state legislature will be meeting to decide on extending, modifying or eliminating some of the current executive orders. In the meantime, the Portage Community Center will continue to follow all of our current safety policies and procedures. We will continue to require all of the actions (mandatory face coverings, temperature checks, health screenings, social distancing, hand washing & sanitizing protocols, etc...) outlined in our reopening plan which also follows the recommendations from the CDC as well as State and Local Health Departments.
Regardless of Friday's ruling of the Michigan Supreme Court declaring some aspects of a 1945 law unconstitutional, all aspects of our reopening guidelines remain in full effect. To ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers and clients face coverings are required for any person inside our facility at all times. Thank you for helping us #MakeLifeBetter
