Opportunities

Tutors: Volunteer tutors donate one hour per week, one evening per week (Mon-Thur). We ask that they commit to an entire semester of assisting a student with their studies. Students are paired up one on one with a tutor in a safe environment. Tutors will have the same student every session. We are in need for tutors for all subjects and for all ages (K-12).  School year only.

Clothing Bar: We receive many clothing donations that need to be folded and sorted every day during the week. We also need volunteers to assist customers of the clothing bar. Wednesdays from 10:00-1pm. Spanish speaking volunteers are especially needed.

Food Pantry:  PCC operates a food pantry that includes personal care items such as shampoo, toothpaste, toilet paper, baby diapers, etc.  Volunteers are needed to help us keep the area well organizaed - flexible schedule Monday - Friday.  Volunteers are also needed for the Loaves & Fishes Pantry operated out of PCC during the last two weeks of each month.  Volunteers opportunities for the L&F program are Monday - Friday from 2:30-4pm - last two weeks of the month.

Red Cross Blood Drive: PCC hosts the Red Cross Blood Drive on the second Monday of each month from the hours of 12pm-5:45pm. Volunteers are needed to assist with registration, escorting, and canteen set-up and distribution. Shifts generally last 3 hours.

Receptionist: Limited opportunities are available Monday-Friday from 9-5pm. The commitment is generally one half day per week.

Surplus Baked Goods Transporters:  Volunteers needed to pick up surplus bread & baked goods from local businesses.

Middle School After School Program & Summer Recreation Program:  Volunteers needed to assist staff with a variety of duties for the operation of these programs.  If the volunteer has a special talent they would like to share with the youth, please indicate that on the Volunteer Application Form (see link on this page).  After school program hours:  Monday - Thursday 3-6pm; Friday 3-5pm.  Summer Program hours: June-August, Tuesday-Thursday 12noon to 4pm.  Volunteer hours for both programs are flexible.

Newsletter Collators: PCC distributes a quarterly newsletter. Volunteers are needed to collate, fold, tape and label the newsletter.

Holiday Volunteers: Like many people, the holidays are our busiest time of year. We are seeking volunteers to assist us with sorting of food for our Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets. We are also seeking volunteers to help with our annual Children’s Holiday Party.

Special Projects: These projects will include assisting with agency fundraisers such as the Peacock Strut, special mailings, data entry, website assistance.
