Emergency Food & Financial Assistance - based on available funds

These Programs are available to residents of the City of Portage and/or Portage Public School District that are able to submit proof of their address, proof of their household income, and proof of all household residents.

PCC operates a Food Pantry for qualifying residents.  See "Related Services" below for special food assistance

  for senior citizens.

PCC also provides limited Financial Assistance for critical situations involving evictions, energy shut-offs, medication and transportation.

These programs are available during regular business hours:  Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm (summer - 8:30am to 4:30pm).  Please call Keith at 323-1942 for more information.


Surplus Food Distribution

PCC surplus food distributions occur one day in each of the following months: July, August and September. Proof of address, proof of total household income and proof of the number of people residing in the household are needed to obtain service. Please call Keith at 323-1942 for more information.


Loaves And Fishes Host Site

PCC is a host site the last two weeks of every month for Loaves and Fishes. Intake and referral is done by Loaves and Fishes. Please call 343-3663 for food requests, or 488-2617 for business matters.


Holiday Food Baskets

PCC furnishes holiday food baskets during Thanksgiving and Christmas for income qualifying families and individuals who live in Portage. Please call Keith at 323-1942 for more information.


Children's Holiday Party                                  

PCC provides a Holiday Party in December for children age 2-5th grade, who live in the city of Portage and/or the Portage Public School District, during Christmas who income qualify. Please call Keith at 323-1942 for more information.


Related Services For Those Who Qualify - based on available funds

Please call Keith at 323-1942 about information for the following programs.

              - Referrals to the Portage Lions Club for assistance with eye exams and glasses

              - Metro Bus passes

              - Clothing (used)- available every Wednesday from 10am to 1:00pm

              - Mi Cafe (Michigan Coordinated Access to Food for the Elderly) - Senior Citizens can sign
                up at the Center for a Bridge Card (food stamps) without having to go to the Department of Human
