After School Programs at Portage Community Center 2022-23
MONDAYS 3-5pm Middle School program (6-8 grade)
Our program for grades 6-8 focuses on building social-emotional skills using a resilience-focused strengths-based lens. Daily activitives vary but include games, art activities, writing and outdoor activities just to name a few!
TUESDAYS 3-5PM Youth Advisory Council (8-12 grade)
Our Youth Advisory Council offers amazing leadership opportunities for selected participants in grades 8-12. Advisory Council members provide valuable feedback for our programs.
Peer Mentors (youth advisory council members in good standing and in grades 10-12) train in evidence based youth work methods and provide support for our middle school programs. Members also participate in volunteer projects to support our community.
Youth advisory council members in good standing participate in special events and field trips to broaden their cultural horizons and engage in community building.
WEDNESDAYS 3-5:30PM Cooking program (6-12 grade)
One of our most popular programs returns! Students will learn important life skills while they prepare an amazing array of foods over the course of the year.
THURSDAYS 3-5pm After-School program (6-12 grade)
Board games, card games, role playing games--this program has it all! Thursdays focus on games and activities to build leadership and a strong community -- and, most importantly, HAVE FUN!
HOW TO REGISTER
- After-school programs begin the first full day of school (Tuesday Sept. 30)
- Snacks are provided
- After-school programs are FREE to all participants
- Space is extremely limited
